I cannot describe the emotions I felt today as I stepped into what now feels like the sweetest dream. Turhaan Samodien, may GOD bless you abundantly for being my rock and capturing every moment today.

As I walked into the ICCA (International Centre for Culinary Arts Dubai) kitchens, I felt like I belonged, like everyone understood me.

It’s day one and the most humbling experience as I finally comprehend long hours standing on your feet, feeling aches and pains but pushing through and still creating and plating dish, after dish, after dish – then cleaning my workstation and ensuring that all the utensils used are washed, dried and stored. I looked around as we all were working, learning being taught by talented and passionate chefs.

Finally, after the day was done, I was asked to go for my measurements to have my chef’s uniform made. It’s all so surreal. Now I’m entering into the arena, and all I can say is THANK YOU to every single person who thought of me today and every other day, mentoring me, supporting me, and just loving me. I am truly blessed and don’t take any of this for granted; getting on with the business of making one’s dreams come true takes courage and perseverance and, most often time, my most valued commodity these days. To the universe, to GOD – THANK YOU for choosing me.
