TRANSFORMING

In the company of @shamilaskitchen and @nabeela_isaacs

One of the things I have in common with both of these women is that they don’t like sitting for too long unless it’s for lunch but even then, it’s brainstorming and conversation with purpose. Like them, I need movement and progression, something that signifies to me that I am transforming and that my life is in flow.

The definition of a verb is “a word that indicates a physical action (e.g., “drive”), a mental action (e.g., “think”), or a state of being (e.g., “exist”).” When I am with them, I feel a need to create, to plan, to capture and captivate.

We found ourselves here @hillcrestberryorchards after the event in Stellenbosch. We sat down for lunch but for the better part of the time we spent together, we talked about what we’re working on and where we’re going.

I started gathering data, making mental notes and with that, feeling utterly motivated to review and reflect on my personal brand.

We’re going into the last two months of the year and soon Christmas decorations will make all of us feel a festive-kind-of-way. It also marks another year that comes to a close. Huge sign of relief that we got through it in one piece.

However, when I am asked “So what’s next?”, I am compelled to come up with some pretty descriptive verbs like “create, forge, collaborate, blossom, beautify, emerge, inspire, transform…” And if these verbs are not captivating enough, I fall back on plan B – just show up!

The moral of the post/story is this, surround yourself with things and people that challenge you and inspire you to transform. Don’t sit in circles where talking about people is what connects you to that friendship. That’s not a friendship, that is gossip – it also happens to be a verb I detest most!

Change the narrative, transform, reinvent yourself and know that change is as good as a holiday! (You don’t even have to spend money on a flight ).
