The moment when one human being acknowledges or recognises what the other means to them, energy is activated. We all need some form of validation, an affirmation from people that we are in relationships with that they “see us”, “get us” and “hear us”.
I refer to @jonesingrid as my Food Fairy God Mother. We don’t speak often, and we hardly have opportunities to spend a lot of time together but she has the ability to say just the right thing at the right time! In moments where I need affirmation and VALIDATION of my talent, my story and why I am on my cultural food journey. Yesterday was one of those days. She sat quietly in the crowd and she cheered all of us on.
I’ll be the first to confess that as much as I can be alone, I love having people around me. More importantly, I love having people who can lead me, guide me, and influence a new thought, or a new idea. I need to be challenged in order for me to bring my best work to the fore! This is the kind of energy that permeated yesterday. We were seen and heard for our stories and who we are.
