A watershed moment at Die Wordfees, as I return to Stellenbosch where my mom was born, to talk about my latest cookbook #moderncapemalaycooking I shared the stage today with Aunty Mardia Hendricks @eezy_foods and Shamila Mollajee @shamilaskitchen The conversation flowed all thanks to @shihaam_domingo who allowed us to share our stories of food, feasting and family.

It’s a rite of passage for me.

I’m on soil that vibrates with childhood memories beneath my feet.

I’m reminded of what my purpose is and how to honour my family’s legacy.

As I walk out of a corporate life in the next few days, I find myself here… it’s impossible not to see or feel nostalgic and trepidation about what the future holds. Endings and new beginnings.
