Date and Nut Smoothie

This smoothie is a hearty breakfast in one glass. It is abundantly nutritious and provides your daily dose of fibre from the banana, dates and oats. I’ve also used walnuts and almonds in this recipe as they are good sources of fibre and protein.


Serves 2   |   Preparation time 10 minutes   |    Setting time none

  • 3 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 6 whole walnuts
  • 6 whole raw almonds
  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • ½ C (125 ml) rolled oats
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 C (500 ml) almond milk, chilled



1 Tbsp (15 ml) roasted flaked almonds

¼ tsp (1.25 ml) ground cinnamon


  1. Place all the smoothie ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. 
  2. Divide between two large glasses.
  3. Garnish with flaked almonds and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
